Featuring amazing Mexican scenery and inspired by the director’s own story about his father, My Father’s Mexican Wedding is a fun romantic comedy from Alfonso Albacete (Sex, Party & Lies).
Ana (Miren Ibarguren, You Keep the Kids SPA22, also in The Te$t), a young Spanish woman who has just been dumped by her boyfriend and her brother Tono (Pol Monen, Carpoolers SPA22) receive surprising news: their father Pepe (Ginés García Millán, The Goya Murders SPA21) is getting married to a woman he met online. Not only that, but the wedding is in Mexico!
They decide to travel there to attend the wedding, but what they find there is not what they expected. The bride Rous (Diana Bovio) is not only younger than them, but her large boisterous Mexican family, headed by matriarch Lupe (Maribel Guardia), has prepared a welcome that they will never forget.
Newfound love, kidnappings, betrayals and new alliances all form part of this mad comedy, where both families will have to overcome conflicts, prejudices and cultural misunderstandings, to discover that love comes in various forms.
"Comedy of entanglements, romantic and with a rebellious air."
